Talking about vaccination, of course everyone will feel the side effects of the vaccine, be it Sinovac, AstraZeneca or Sinopharm vaccines. And here’s a review of the side effects of the vaccine.
In order to accelerate herd immunity, the government is increasingly implementing vaccination programs. The program is now not only implemented in the capital city, but also in several other cities in Indonesia.
Through vaccination, Covid-19 cases are expected to experience a significant decrease. However, we as a smart society should not only rely on vaccinations, but also implement super strict health protocols.
Especially now, several new variants of Covid-19 have reappeared, which are considered far more vicious than the usual Covid-19 variants.
For this reason, one of the solutions taken by the government is beyond the implementation of health protocols and vaccination programs.
Common Side Effects Experienced After Vaccination
Vaccine side effects generally range from mild and temporary, to slightly more severe, depending on the condition of the body.
The side effects that are mild to severe are muscle pain, fatigue, chills, fever, headache, and nausea.
Side Effects of Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm Vaccines
Now, to discuss the side effects of the Sinovac, AstraZeneca, and Sinopharm vaccines, of course you must first know the three types of vaccines.
The reason is, each dose of vaccine that is injected gives a different effect, depending on the condition of the recipient’s body. And here is information about the three vaccines and their side effects.
1. Sinovac Vaccine
The Sinovac vaccine was the first vaccine to be injected at the beginning of the government’s vaccination program. This vaccine has obtained an emergency use permit from BPOM RI.
In the Sinovac vaccine, there is an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus. This vaccine was developed by Sinovac Biotech Ltd and has passed the third phase of clinical trials conducted in several countries, including Brazil, Indonesia, and Turkey.
In the third phase of clinical trials in Indonesia, the Sinovac vaccine showed a fairly large vaccine efficacy value, up to 65.3 percent.
In a single injection, the recommended dose for Sinovac vaccine is 0.5 ml. This vaccine should be given twice with an interval of use of 14 days.
The side effects of the Sinovac vaccine that will definitely be experienced after receiving this vaccine, such as:
- Redness or swelling at the injection site
- Body feels tired
- Muscle ache
- Nausea and vomiting
2. AstraZeneca Vaccine
Not only Sinovac, the government is now using the AstraZeneca vaccine. This vaccine product is the result of a collaboration between the University of Oxford and a British pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca, using a genetically modified virus from the common cold virus.
The way the AstraZeneca vaccine works is by stimulating the body to form strong antibodies to fight the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Its effectiveness reaches 63 to 75 percent.
Like the Sinovac vaccine, the side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine will certainly be experienced by the recipient of the vaccine.
However, the side effects of the vaccine are still tolerable and can go away on their own within a few days.
In fact, in some cases, there are no side effects from the AstraZeneca vaccine at all, you know.
In general, the following are some of the side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine:
- Joint and muscle pain
- Bruises on the part of the body that was injected
- Nausea and vomiting
For some rare cases, the AstraZeneca vaccine can cause severe reactions, such as blood clots, palpitations, chest pain, and fainting.
If you are afraid of a number of unusual side effects from the vaccine, you can first consult a doctor, especially if your health condition does not allow it.
3. Sinopharm Vaccine
Another vaccine side effect that you will definitely feel is if you receive an injection of the Sinopharm type of vaccine.
FYI, Sinopharm is one type of vaccine that is currently also used in Indonesia and is included in the self-vaccination program or mutual cooperation vaccination.
The Sinopharm vaccine contains a deactivated Corona virus. The way this vaccine works is by stimulating the immune system to produce the right antibodies to fight the Corona virus.
The development of the Sinopharm vaccine was carried out by the China National Pharmaceutical Group in 2020.
From the results of the third phase of clinical trials, it is known that the effectiveness of Sinopharm reaches 79.34 percent.
Sinopharm can be injected twice with an injection distance of approximately 21 days. The recommended dose in a single injection is 0.5 ml.
Well, regarding the side effects of the Sinopharm vaccine, it’s actually almost the same as other types of vaccines, such as:
- Pain and redness at the injection site
